About the route
This more demanding MTB route is a perfect blend of wilderness, culture and sea. It is recommended for experienced riders with good fitness.
The route leaves Supetar for Mirca where, after an easier opening section, a gravel climb begins towards Donji Humac, continuing on to Dračevica and Nerežišća. After Nerežišća comes another significant, mostly gravel climb to the Gažul plateau – a rural complex at around 600 m above sea level, surrounded by forest, pastures and dry-stone walls.
From Gažul a thrilling descent through wild countryside leads all the way down to the famous Lovrečina Bay, with its beautiful beach and the ruins of an early Christian basilica. From Lovrečina, on the way back through Postira and Splitska to Supetar, the route is entirely gentle, following the coast past a string of lovely coves and beaches.
Along the route
Donji Humac – a traditional stone village with well-known stonemasons' workshops.
The Brač bonsai – the famous pine tree growing out of the roof of the Church of Sts Peter and Paul in Nerežišća.
Gažul plateau – pastures, forest and dry-stone walls at around 600 m above sea level.
Lovrečina Bay – a beach with the remains of an early Christian basilica, ideal for a short rest.

Tips and safety
The route is physically demanding, especially the climb from Nerežišća to Gažul. Refuel in Nerežišća and top up on water and food, as the next opportunity is only after the descent, in Postira. It is ideal in spring and early autumn, when nature is fresh. In summer an early start is recommended. In Postira or Splitska you can enjoy a coffee, ice cream or a meal by the sea.
