Rasohe Roman Quarry

A Roman quarry above Splitska with a relief of Hercules carved into the living rock; the stone for Diocletian's Palace came from the quarries here.

Brač is famous for the quarries that supplied countless towns, palaces and buildings around the world. The stone blocks for Diocletian's Palace, the heart of today's Split, came from the Roman quarries of Plate, Rasohe and Stražišće above Splitska. The 'Hercules' themed trail leads from the centre of Splitska to the Rasohe quarry, where a relief of Hercules – a symbol of strength and human will – is carved into the living rock; the trail is enriched with 3D animations and AR technology.
