About the route
The longer of Ludbreg's two trekking routes is the right choice for cyclists keen to explore nature and finish the day fulfilled but not worn out.
This circular trekking route runs through the flat countryside around Ludbreg, across varied landscapes of gentle fields and small woods cut through by the Bednja river on its way to the Drava. Combining safe local roads with gravel tracks and firm dirt paths, it leads through picturesque villages full of history and rustic charm and on to the shore of a large reservoir, after which it heads back towards Ludbreg.
Besides the natural sights there are historic ones, such as Batthyány Castle in Ludbreg and Drašković Castle in Veliki Bukovec. As the route starts and finishes in the town centre, it also takes in all of Ludbreg's cultural and historic attractions, such as the ethno house “Bakina hiža i Dedekov dvor” and the concentric circles on the main square that mark the official centre of the world.
Along the route
The 18th-century Drašković Castle in Veliki Bukovec, where the Illyrians gathered during the Croatian National Revival.
