Shrine of the Most Precious Blood of Christ
The only shrine in Croatia with official papal recognition, founded after a miracle recorded in 1411.
In 1411, during Mass in the Chapel of the Holy Cross at Batthyány Castle, a miracle was recorded: as the host was broken, in answer to the priest's doubts, real blood flowed. According to tradition, miraculous healings began to occur in Ludbreg after this event, turning the town into a place of pilgrimage. Remarkably, Ludbreg is the only shrine in Croatia with official papal recognition, and there are not many such shrines in the world.
