About the route
The route covering the southern part of the Neretva Valley is a little longer than its northern sister, and its terrain makes it a little more demanding. It starts in Opuzen and follows the banks of the Neretva to Metković, then heads towards Zažablje.
The first big climb is towards Zavala Slivno; on the way, don’t forget to enjoy the wetland views of this part of the valley and the Kuti Lake ornithological reserve.
The effort of the climb is rewarded with an attractive descent towards the Adriatic coast and Klek, where the blue of the sea and the peaks of the Pelješac Peninsula make for truly unique views.
The final section runs right along the coast on the Adriatic Highway, then switches to local roads and crosses rolling terrain to Blace, known for its beautiful sandy beach. From the coastal village of Blace, near the mouth of the Mala Neretva, the route follows the main course of that river back towards Opuzen.
Along the route
After Mlinište, a climb awaits with a beautiful view over Kuti Lake and the southern part of the Neretva Delta.
