Welcome to Novigrad Sea, a haven of peace set in a region rich in natural beauty and history, and full of rare opportunities for an active holiday.
This deep, calm and gentle bay is a continuation of the equally deep Velebit Channel, joined to it by a narrow passage. Through that passage, the Novsko (or Maslenica) Strait, run two monumental bridges that link Dalmatia by road with the rest of Croatia. The area is also defined by the mouth of the Zrmanja, one of the most beautiful, best-preserved and cleanest rivers in Croatia.
Novigrad Sea is a lace of small villages in three municipalities: Novigrad, Posedarje and Poličnik. They cover the southern shore of the bay and part of Ravni Kotari in the hinterland of Zadar, and partly reach the coast of the Velebit Channel. The indented, rocky and in places sandy shore gives way to plains and wooded hills of the Zadar hinterland, while Velebit dominates the view to the north from every angle.
The mostly flat and gently rolling landscape of Ravni Kotari, a network of quiet local roads, olive groves, vineyards and cultivated fields make a beautiful setting for road cycling. The nearby Velebit draws mountain bikers, and the network of gravel and stony tracks around Posedarje and Vinjerac, home to a bike park, offers plenty of thrills close at hand. The climate suits cycling for most of the year; the only exception are periods of frequent bora wind in autumn and winter.
