A charming historic town on the south-western shore of Novigrad Sea, the ideal base for exploring the whole area.
Novigrad was built beside the remains of a fortress on the hill above the town. It takes its name from the Latin name of that tower, Castrum Novum; the remains date from the 13th century, when the originally Roman structure was rebuilt.
It sits on the south-western shore of “its” sea, close to all the attractions of the destination, which makes it the ideal starting point for exploring the area and beyond. It is a fine example of a well-kept Dalmatian resort with a wide offer, especially for those who want a quiet harbour for sea and sun from which to set off on adventures across the Zadar region or Velebit.
