Grad Fortress

The remains of a fortress on the hill above Sinj, with a wonderful view of the town and the Cetina region.

This part of Dalmatia was often a battlefield between the Ottomans and the Republic of Venice, and the strategic importance of Sinj is best shown by its monumental fortifications, Grad and Kamičak.

Grad Fortress, badly damaged by a turbulent history and a series of earthquakes, stands on the hill above Sinj. A well-kept path with the 14 Stations of the Cross leads up to it, and it offers a wonderful view of the town and the mountain-ringed Cetina region.
