The largest town of the Split Hinterland, home of the Sinjska alka and Our Lady of Sinj, at the geographical heart of the region.
The largest town in the Split Hinterland is also the famous knightly town of the Sinjska alka and of the Miraculous Our Lady of Sinj. It lies at the geographical centre of the region, roughly equidistant from the slopes of Dinara, Kamešnica and Svilaja.
Sinj is embraced to the north and east by the Cetina, which flows across Sinjsko polje south-east of the town and continues through this part of the Dalmatian interior and, eventually, to the sea.
Sinj's many historical, cultural and religious sights are beautifully complemented by nature, which here offers everything you could imagine – from the banks of a clear river and the fertile fields around it to the majestic heights of three Dinaric mountains.
