A protected geomorphological natural monument below Mosor, near Kotlenice, open to visitors.
Near Dugopolje, by the village of Kotlenice, at the foot of the central northern slopes of Mount Mosor, lies one of the most important and most beautiful geomorphological attractions in this part of Croatia – Vranjača Cave. Although its entrance, or atrium, has been known since ancient times, the full beauty of this underground world was discovered by chance only at the beginning of the last century, when the cave was explored, mapped and opened to the public.
The magical world of stalactites and stalagmites, shaped by water in the karst underground over thousands of years, consists of a series of chambers with cave formations in many colours, where you can enjoy a constant, pleasant 15 °C whatever the heat of the Dalmatian sun outside.
