Koprivnica historic town centre

A unique heritage ensemble around a former military fortress, with secular and sacred architecture, a synagogue and the town park.

The beauty of small historic towns is that within a few steps you can discover, get to know and explore a wealth of cultural treasures. Koprivnica is no exception.

Its historic centre surrounds a former military fortress (today the site of a lovely town park) and forms a unique heritage ensemble. Depending on your interests, you can enjoy the beauty of secular and sacred architecture here – from the old town hall, now home to the Koprivnica Town Museum, to the sublime exterior and interior of the parish church of St Nicholas, and the Franciscan monastery with the church of St Anthony of Padua.

The whole historic centre is woven with the fine façades of Baroque and historicist town houses and palaces, testimony to the town's long and rich civic history.

Koprivnica is also home to one of the few surviving and restored synagogues, and once you have explored its architectural heritage, relax in the large and unique town park, whose origins go back to the mid-19th century.
