Vrlika

A little stone town below Svilaja on the north-western edge of the region, close to the sources of the Cetina and Lake Peruća.

Nestled below the slopes of Svilaja, Vrlika lies on the north-western edge of the region, at the very top of the Vrlika field. Its long history reaches back into prehistory, and its prehistoric, historic and religious sights far outnumber what the size of the town would suggest. Vrlika has always been, and still is, closely tied to the Cetina, which begins its 105-kilometre journey to the sea right here.

The Vrlika landscape holds the very best of the Dalmatian interior: the imposing peaks of Svilaja and Dinara, a wealth of cold, clear, clean springs and rivers that turn into the blue surface of Lake Peruća just outside the town, and the lush green of fertile karst fields stretching to the south-east.
