The remains of a medieval fort on the south-western slopes of the Kalnik hills, once an important point in the defence against the Ottomans.
The medieval fort of Čanjevo is another of the impressive buildings that made up the defensive system of this part of north-western Croatia. It stands on the south-western slopes of the Kalnik hills, and its remains are now an important archaeological site.
The fort was most probably built in the 15th century, and a century later it became an important point for watching over and guarding the border against attacks from the Ottoman Empire. According to the available sources, it was abandoned and demolished in the 18th century.
