Rajčica wells

Ten dry-stone-lined wells in a hidden valley which, local legend says, have never run dry.

A neat play on words makes the Rajčica wells a little piece of paradise (“raj” means paradise in Croatian).

North-east of Klis, towards Svilaja, almost hidden in a valley amid beautiful wild greenery, lie ten wells lined with dry-stone walls which, according to local legend, have never run dry. Although their name suggests ancient origins, the first written record dates from 1829; they are thought to be much older, built in the 13th or 14th century.

The wells are the furthest point of the 110 Rajčica MTB route.
