The first in situ museum in Croatia, built on the site of the temple complex of the ancient city of Narona in Vid near Metković.
The ancient city of Narona once stood near Metković, and its history and former importance are presented in a modern museum that is unique in having been built on the authentic site of the city’s temple complex. The Narona Archaeological Museum is in Vid near Metković and holds a rich collection of statues and artefacts illustrating the history of the area from antiquity to the Middle Ages.
The museum is a must, not only for the wealth of its collection but because it is one of the few in Europe displayed in situ, on the authentic site of the temple complex of the former Roman city.
