A protected habitat at the mouth of the Neretva, one of five ornithological reserves in a delta where 310 bird species have been recorded.
The Neretva Delta is still an exceptionally diverse habitat, rich in plant and animal species, above all birds, and as many as five of its sites are protected as ornithological reserves. The mouth of the Neretva is one of them. A total of 310 bird species have been recorded in the delta, making it an important stopover on the migration of wetland birds that spend the winter here, and it is also an important feeding ground for them.
If you love birds, or your curiosity about them is awakened during your visit to the Neretva Valley, we warmly recommend spending at least part of your stay watching these fascinating creatures.
